Palm kernel oil

Palm Kernel Oil is a rich, nourishing natural oil extracted from the seeds (kernels) of the oil palm tree. It is highly valued in skincare and haircare formulations for its moisturizing, emollient, and conditioning properties. Unlike palm oil (from the fruit), palm kernel oil has a slightly different fatty acid profile, making it excellent for creating rich, stable formulations and bar soaps with a creamy lather.

Functions:

Emollient (softens and smooths skin)

Moisturizer for dry and damaged skin

Hair conditioning and shine enhancer

Adds hardness and stable lather to soap formulations

Acts as a natural thickener in creams and butters

Insoluble in water

Appearances:

Light yellow to golden oil (solid at cooler temperatures)

Usage Rate:

2–20% in creams, lotions, body butters, and haircare products

Up to 100% in soap making and oil blends

pH Stability Range:

Not pH-dependent (stable in all cosmetic pH ranges)

Compatibility:

Blends well with other carrier oils, butters, waxes, and essential oils

Can be combined with emulsifiers to make creams and lotions
