Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate Powder(SCI)

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) is a mild, sulfate-free surfactant derived from natural coconut fatty acids. SCI produces a luxurious, creamy lather while being gentle on skin and hair. It is widely used in solid shampoo bars, syndet bars, facial cleansers, body washes, and sulfate-free formulations.

SCI is known for its low irritation profile, making it suitable for sensitive skin, while still offering excellent foaming, cleansing, and conditioning properties. It leaves the skin soft and the hair silky without stripping natural oils.

Usage Rate

Solid shampoos & syndet bars: 40 – 60%

Cleansers & body washes: 3 – 20%

Facial cleansers & baby products: 2 – 10%

pH Range

Works best at pH 4.5 – 6.5

Stable in mildly acidic to neutral formulations

Compatibility

Compatible with: Nonionic, amphoteric, and mild anionic surfactants (e.g., Cocamidopropyl Betaine) to boost foam and reduce irritation

Not compatible with: Strongly alkaline conditions, as it may hydrolyze or destabilize
