PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a non-ionic surfactant derived from castor oil that has been hydrogenated and ethoxylated to make it water-dispersible. It functions as a solubilizer, emulsifier, and surfactant, allowing oils, essential oils, and oil-based actives to mix into water-based systems without separation.

It’s especially useful in transparent or clear products like toners, body sprays, micellar waters, and cleansing gels, where you need to dissolve small amounts of oil without cloudiness or instability. PEG-40 is gentle on the skin, non-comedogenic, and works well even at low concentrations.
