Sodium Lactate

Sodium Lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, naturally derived from the fermentation of plant-based sugars such as corn or beets. It’s a multi-functional ingredient used in skincare, haircare, and soap formulations for its excellent hydration, pH-regulating, and antimicrobial properties.

As a powerful humectant, Sodium Lactate attracts water molecules into the skin, increasing moisture retention and leaving the skin soft, plump, and smooth. It’s also a natural component of the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), helping to maintain barrier integrity and elasticity.

In addition to its hydrating role, Sodium Lactate is used to:

Adjust and buffer pH levels in cosmetic formulations

Improve preservative performance

Enhance lather and hardness in soaps

Increase skin smoothness and reduce dryness
